Under the Shadow of His Wings: A Prayer for the Year Ahead

There’s something sacred about starting fresh—a clean slate, a new chapter, and endless possibilities. But let’s be honest, the road ahead can feel a little uncertain. That’s why I believe in beginning the year with a prayer, laying it all at God’s feet, not just for me but for my loved ones too.

This prayer is my heart poured out, covering not only myself but my family. I invite you to join me as we lift this up and step boldly into all that’s ahead.

A Prayer for the Year Ahead

Lord, as this new year begins, I come to You with a heart wide open. Whatever may come—joy or challenge—I choose to stay under the shadow of Your wings. I know there’s no safer place to be than in the center of Your will.

Hold me and my family close, Lord. Steady us with Your mighty right hand when life feels uncertain, and give us peace in knowing that You are in control. Cover my loved ones with Your protection and guide them in all they do.

When emotions rise and patience wears thin (because, let’s be real, we’re human), teach us to pause. Show me and my family where we need to step back, breathe, and rethink before reacting. Help us to respond to one another with love, kindness, and understanding, even in the toughest moments.

Father, I ask for forgiveness—not just for myself but on behalf of my family. Forgive us for the times we’ve fallen short, for the words spoken out of anger or frustration, and for the moments we’ve forgotten to lean on You. Wash us clean, renew our hearts, and unite us in Your purpose.

This year, I pray that my family and I would be a light—a reflection of Your love, peace, and joy to one another and to the world. Help us to grow together, release what no longer serves us, and embrace the blessings and lessons You have for us in this season.

Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness and Your unshakable promises. Thank You for the mercy that meets us each morning and the grace that carries us through every challenge. I trust You to guide us, protect us, and lead us into the fullness of all You’ve planned.
