Self-Care Saturday: Slow Down and Breathe

Listen, if no one has given you permission yet, let me be the first—today is YOUR day. Yep, I said it. Self-Care Saturday is officially in session, and guess what? The theme is slow down. Not a little bit, but way down—like sloth mode, where everything moves in slow motion, and every single second is drenched in peace.
I know, I know. You might be thinking, But I don’t have time for self-care! I have kids, laundry, errands, a never-ending to-do list… Sis, I hear you. Believe me, I know that struggle. But I’ve also learned something over the years: if I don’t intentionally recharge, life will find a way to do it for me—and not in a cute way. We’re talking exhaustion, frustration, and running on fumes until the car of life completely stalls.
So, let’s shift gears. Self-care isn’t just about dropping everything and doing nothing (though, if that’s your vibe today, no judgment!). It’s about refueling in the way that your body, mind, and spirit need most.
Maybe that looks like:
💛 Waking up and sitting in silence, just being with God—repenting, praying, thanking, or just laying your heart bare.
💛 Stepping outside and soaking in the sunshine, breathing deeply, and letting nature minister to you.
💛 Putting on your favorite playlist and dancing in your kitchen like no one’s watching.
💛 Sipping your tea or coffee slowly, savoring the warmth, and just being in the moment.
💛 Reading that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand since… well, forever.
Whatever self-care looks like for you today, make it intentional. Let joy find you in the small things. Smile more. Laugh freely. Because Proverbs reminds us that laughter is good medicine—and sis, you deserve a full dose today.
So, here’s your challenge: Make today about YOU. Not the demands, not the responsibilities, not the outside noise. You. Breathe deep, exhale slow, and give yourself the grace to pause.
Happy Self-Care Saturday—enjoy every second of it! 💛
After 6 hours of intense seeking to hear from the Lord for a new message today for service tomorrow different from what I went to bed with last night I have just shifted into low on the way to park. I intend to relax, refresh, refocus on me and rest the remainder of the day. Thank you daughter for that permission without feeling guilty or feeling selfish but free with the time for myself today,
Yesss! Love it. Started early this morning. Let the fur babies out and while they did their business and played, I lifted a thankful heart to God and breathed in the fresh air! GRATFUL!!!
